I just got back from dinner at my little brother's place. We had yummy ham and I got to hang out with brother's family and my parents for a couple of hours. I don't see enough of any of them so this was a special treat. My two nephews were adorable and hysterical. After dinner they started telling the really bad jokes that only 6- and 8-year-old boys can tell. My brother sent me home with ham and ham bones so I can make a big pot of split pea soup. I'd better go dig out my recipe while I'm thinking about it.
I started the new year the way I hope the rest of it will be. I joined a bunch of friends for a spin-in on New Year's Day. There was much talking and laughing with a fair amount of spinning thrown in for good measure. Kate, our host, has two cats and I kept exclaiming how big the "baby" was. It took me about 4 hours to realize that the reason Luna looks so big is because my kids are still kittens.

I pulled out the directions for my basic mittens and I'm happy to report I should have plenty of yarn to complete the pair. Just to be on the safe side, though, at the spin-in I spun up some white Cormo to use on the cuffs. I like contrast so I'll probably use the Cormo on the cuffs anyway.
I'd love to hear about your plans for the new year. What do you hope to accomplish in the next 363 days? What big project do you want to tackle?
I was just thinking about pea soup yesterday. I have ham hocks in the freezer. Hmmm... Resistance is futile.
Can't wait to see your mittens!
