First of all, I drove to my parents' place on Saturday. Dad showed me how to finish up the decorative detail on my chair:
The edging cleans up the edge of the caning, finishing off the chair and giving it a nice border.
As usual, I had a great time visiting with my parents. Thanks again, Dad, for teaching me how to cane.
Sunday I picked up my new chairs and I'm so excited about them. Well, I'm excited about the one that's not broken. Here are some of the detail shots:
The caning needs to be replaced. Another project!
The broken chair, however, needs a lot of work if it's ever to be usable again:
The rear, left leg is broken and there's a split further up on the inside that I didn't take a picture of. The biggest break, however, is where the front left leg meets the seat of the chair:
It's kind of hard to see but the top of the leg isn't attached to the chair. I hope it's fixable. It would be great to have matching chairs because these are beautiful chairs.
I'm excited to have another chair to cane. Now I need to buy some supplies! How do people who don't have hobbies do it?
